Program Theory

APPLICATION

Applicable to the analysis of cranes and lifting appliances, these include: Heavy Lift, Shipboard & Offshore Cranes.
Multiple bodies may be represented allowing analysis of more complex Knuckle Boom & Mast Cranes.
Luffing may be by ropes or hydraulic cylinders.
Dynamic arrays fit to problem size.

The following convention must be adopted:

1st rope is hoist
1st body is fixed
2nd & subsequent are luffing ropes for 2nd & subsequent bodies
Fmhz 1, body is not supported by luffing rope
sol=2,
Equalibrium equations solved as simultaneous equations.
The strict convention of sol=1 is not compulsory but broad compliance with the convention may increase prob. of obtaining a solution.

The tooth angle 'At' is zero when normal to the rack tangent line and is +ve Z, out-of-plane XY.
For a hinged body, the rack tangent line is circular with centre at the hinge and is scribed by the pinnion.
For a telescopic body, the rack tangent line is parallel to the telescope direction.
R&P Configuration Codes:
1 pinnion (N1) fixed to driven body, rack (N2) fixed to the supporting body
